Biography

Born in1959

Studied theology and philosophy in Göttingen, Heidelberg and Frankfurt am Main Doctorate in theology from Heidelberg in1987

Vicar (pastor-in-training) at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oldenburg i.O.

Habilitation scholarship award of the Fritz-Thyssen-Foundation

1994: Habilitation; Private Docent for Systematic Theology in Frankfurt am Main

1995: Appointed Professor of Systematic Theology in the core areas of Ethics and Philosophy of Religion at Hamburg University

2005-2008: Founding Dean of the Faculty of the Humanities

Since 2010: Professor of Systematic Theology/Ethics at the Faculty of Theology, Martin-Luther University Halle-Wittenberg

2010-2014: Spokesperson for Saxony Anhalt’s Cluster of Excellence with the research focus “Enlightenment – Religion – Knowledge. Transformations in the Religious and Rational Dimensions of Modernity”.

2014-2016: Dean of the Faculty of Theology

Since 2012: First Chairman of the Schleiermacher Society.
